Could it be? http://www.keyt.com/news/local/37367934.html?linkSource=edhat.com Santa Barbara, CA-- You've heard a lot about the word "change" going into 2009. Now you may need some more "pocket change" to get in and out of a Santa Barbara parking lot.
It's not official yet, but there's a proposal to eliminate the free 75-minute downtown parking. The official decision will come in a few months as part of a sweeping set of solutions to the city's budget problems.
On Sundays, the lots currently have reduced hours, but those are going to be increased February 1st. The city believes that will bring in more than $100,000 a year. |

This is not smart at all. Alot of people shop the downtown and if you take away the free parking they will go elsewhere to shop. Places like LaCumbre mall or the wharf or Goleta. This will not be good for the downtown stores. |
